I used to get into terrible trouble in my openings due to my dodgy memory, but since I started playing the Hippo, which has to be one of the easiest chess openings to learn, I rarely get caught out in the opening anymore. Quite the opposite actually.
It's also an opening you can play equally well with white or black.
For anybody interested in learning all the tips and tricks about the Hippo there are three wonderful resources on Youtube.
The Chess Giant - Solomon Ruddell {He's like a 7ft Hippo Jedi}

Robert Drury (His Hippo insights are fascinating - He literally speaks all his thoughts as he plays)

Eric Hansen's Hippo Speedrun (He goes from 800 to 2500 using nothing but the Hippo with white and black)

There is also a Chessable course by Simon Williams based on the excellent book by Alessio De Santis - it covers absolutely everything!
The Chess Giant always refers to the Hippo as a 'Cheat Code' for chess because it makes openings so easy.
It certainly proves chess openings aren't always complicated.
My quick answer would be ''yes'', my more elaborate answer would be ''yes, but it depends''. Depending on things like: which opening do you plan to study and at what level are you operating.
