jerry2468 - that's total blarney. No one has every right to think that I'm cheating just because I'm playing well.
That's extremely rude and unsportsmanlike.

I've fluked some very good play against 1 or 2 high raters (500 pts higher than me - beaten a couple) and the only engine I have ever sighted is under the bonnet of my car...
It is wrong, and bad sportsmanship to assume, let alone accuse, that JUST BECAUSE someone plays 'a' great game 'or a few' they must be cheating!
I have one thing to say about this... if you suspect someone is cheating, report them and let staff do their checking... don't go publicly insinuating or accusing them... it is slander, and without proof!
And it is site rules here not to publicly accuse anyone, but to report instead.
Behaving is primary at chess and it's one of the things that divide us from animals.
You're right: Only human beings misbehave. Nonhuman animal beings mind their business and don't bother us.
I've had people insult me, generally starting their conversations with something like "You think you're good, but you're not". To which I respond, "Just learning the game and having fun" hopefully ending the conversation :p
But I think my worst chess situation online was being down material & time, I decided to try and draw a game by repititon. In this case, he could have ended the repeating moves by throwing his rook infront of my queen and he would have ended up still 8+ points in material, 2-3+ minutes on time and in better position with virtually no way of losing the game unless he threw his remaining queen right by one of my last 3 pawns (none of which were passed). At the end, he got mad at me for claiming the draw, to which I pointed out he could have easily ended the repetition any point. He then replied, "yea, but I didn't think you would do that".

Was there chat going on though ?
that's unfortunate ,.. i've played a couple two three matches an every last person i've managed to come acoss has not only chatted while playing, but has had some pretty witty humor. nothing remotely petty or childish. even the guy that trashed me in what "24 MOVES YESTERDAY" was positive in terms of conversation lol ,...
i say keep the chat box open man. if someone hits u with a remark that's 5th grade like just continue as if (( ZERO HAPPENED )) ,..
as the saying goes "STICKS AN STONES"
There are plenty of fools on live chess. Be careful. Can you belive that most of them decline draw offers, even when they are losing?
If they accused you of cheating, yes, take it as a compliment. respond with a smiley face ....... or a grin depending on how strongly you dominated.
jk (be mature and ignore them)
What do you mean by "find him"? Here at chess.com members do their fighting with one another on virtual chess boards and in the forums, not out in the real world.
The proper course of action if anyone is abusive or if you suspect of cheating, is to report them to staff, not to publish their names, and let staff handle it.
Can you help me find a user named Glupis? He was very rude. In fact I might start a thread.
Do you think starting a thread would help him?

Nice comment, Cystem_Phailure.
propapanda may be the strangest forum poster in Chess.com history! He's like an unstoppable force
Do you ever disable the chat boxes when you play?
I like chatting with friendly players however the vast majority of my games don't have any chatting at all. That's just fine with me.
However, I'm a little frustrated that in a recent game my opponent (ranked 2206) accused me of cheating. Am I supposed to take that as a backhanded compliment or something?
It always strikes me as strange when someone disables the chat box as soon as a game starts, but now it seems like it might be for the best.
I've also had a game recently where someone won my queen with a nice move and then wrote "haha" in the chat box. "Haha"?
What's that about? And what response could I make except to close that chat box.
I guess a corollary to what I'm saying is do people use the chat box to play mind games and try to influence play in that way.
Anyway, I just wanted to vent. I'm not that good. I don't dream of ever being rated 2000 online or anything like that. I just play for fun and I enjoy learning the game. But being accused of cheating really rankles me.
Arstan I checked your game and you are doing quite well. He didn't expect such good play and was most likely immediatly suspicious of your rating or your skill. He has every right to think that.
