Chatting while playing

I come to chess.com to play Chess and learn skills to make my chess skills improve.  I have Chat disabled, I don't want to chat with you, I want to beat you at Chess and chatting does not help me especially with the poor sportsmanship players. You know the guys that lose their Queen and constantly ask for a draw or abandon a game when hopelessly behind.  I block these guys, don't need to play them again!

I only have chat on for when I’m playing with friends. If I wasn’t playing with them I would keep it off to ignore the silly children on the site.

But let me ask you this,  should a guy get muted for chatting to you when you already have it disabled?

"A Guy" can not chat me as I have Chat disabled, for me everyone is muted which is how I like it. No dumb comments can get in the way of me enjoying Chess.

If I want to read dumb comments and chat all I have to do is visit the Forums!!

FWIW

Blocking players or not chatting is determined by me, not you or anyone else.  I block players for many reasons and it is my business not yours.

Thats besides my point.   I'll ask you again do you think it is right for chess.com to mute a player who as already muted by them and you?   What is the purpose of that?

What I or you think is not applicable.

Chess.com has the right to do whatever they want to do. We are guests on THEIR site, paying or not. If you do not like chess.com policies then go elsewhere! There is NO lack of Chess websites.

OTOH chess.com gives me the "privilege" of not reading stupid chat comments while playing chess and I use that privilege. If you do not agree with me,  you have the right to block me!!

I just had a guy tell me "You're so lucky I'm not in a mood for winning"..... just before resigning. Not exactly "abusive".... but really poor sportsmanship. I blocked him. He's from another country and probably doesn't speak good English, so maybe he didn't mean it the way it came across. Maybe he meant, "You played a great game and I'd love a rematch some time".  On the other hand, maybe he meant "Everyone in your country is a pig".  I couldn't see the body language, so who knows?

not a reason for you to block him or for him to be muted.  Shame on you and chess.com.

I didn't like what he said, nor the poor sportsmanship it displayed,  and I didn't want to hear from him again, so blocking seemed the natural way to accomplish that. Didn't think twice. In fact, when I'm done with this post, I'm going to block you. I don't like the way you insult people and I've yet to read one of your posts that inspired, enlightened, entertained, or interested me. Several have offended me. So I don't want to see your posts any longer.
