Cheat Codes
You are right about using them in other games. They pretty much destroy the fun and are the same as sheeting at Chess. It was different with Diablo 2.
I was finally able to try out all the different sets of armor and various weapons as I went. I would still often go back and start at square one, because that really is the most fun. I can always load a more powerful character and just go kill everything within a 30 meter radius by just walking around. I think I've been able to call up almost 100 minions to fight for me at once.
King's Quest was the original adventure game. I remember playing it where you had to type in everything, maybe. CRS, you know. Played the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy that way. I remember that, cause I didn't know to type in put the fish in your ear.
Used to play D&D on the Atari. It is the most ported game in the entire world. Cards, Atari, video games, computer games, role play?, on a board?, what am I missing? Online groups? Everyone loves it.
Did you take your name from Fester Bestertester? Al Jaffee just passed. 102 yrs and worked until a few years ago. RIP.
I have around 20,000 serious hours on Flight Simulators. That was my main interest for years. Averaged eight hours a day on FSX for seven years. Probably have 40k to 50k on Flight Sims in general. Don't fly as much now, but I have a lot of cool planes. MSFS is an X-Box game. Great scenery, and that's about the only advantage. FSX will never be used to its full potential.
I only tried a joystick FS once. Not into it. I have enough hours actual flying to know it lacks a lot of realism.
Ah, you are one of the lucky ones. I'm the poor man's pilot, but I can talk all day with pilots. I'm a navigator. I think I could land a plane, up to a 737, if I was the only one on the plane that even begins to know how. 737 maybe a 50% chance. Singles or Twins about an 80% chance. I think the hardest part is the flare, for which there is no feedback in Sim. We have to kind of brain our way through it, and it is easy to get caught on that cushion of air and end up nosing in. Especially in heavy winds. A 737 I think I could fly down to the runway at the right speed. There's a video of a Simmer landing a plane, a 185 probably, and the instructor only had to take over in the flare. Otherwise, he did excellent. ![]()
Talk about sheeting. One thing I can do without losing my FAA license is fly 25 feet off the water at 120 knots through the Grand Canyon in a Lake Renegade, while skimming the water on the straightaways. Fly through the Arch. I grew up there and people use to blot out their numbers and do it.
I've only a few chances to fly in small planes. Grew up flying on old four engine props and jets and always have to have a window seat.
