The thing is, a vote chess game is only as good as the middle player (in theory)...
so if we have people from 900 to 2500 playing we're gonna have a 17 or 1800 level game.. an engine will beat that.
we have a couple that are real close to 900 and me who keeps getting to about 1020 and dropping back down again. I hate that

as long as we read the suggestions by erik and his (obviously powerful) engine and take some opening advice (If I may be so bold) from that dimwit ih8sens I think we can probably take him out pretty quickly.

Im not sure, I mean, if people argue about the best moves I think the average elo will be far above that of the average player. If the best argument should win. (and be read)
And with 17 or 1800, how will we stand a chance against Nigel Davis? Im worried...

an 1800 player can (and has, from my own experience :P) draw engines, top leveled players, etc...
I'm not saying we're dead :P and you're right.. if the people that choose to participate take it reasonably seriously we can win.
Impressively pointless. I'm sure it will be wonderful fun, yet I'll be fantastically busy, say, raking Montana.
It does seem obvious that the engine(s) will win.
Have you anything without the mindless bravado attached?
BTW, did anyone else notice that cheater1 said, "Just as Garry beat the world, I'd wager some cash that I could singlehandedly CHECKMATE the ENTIRE pool of chess.com users." SINGLEHANDEDLY? Oh, yeah, one hand on the mouse I guess. Kind of reminds me of the question of program instantiation central to Searle's Chinese Room. Does cheater1 really play chess?

It's starting to appear to me that cheater1 doesn't even cheat.
Assuming he does have this great engine and is a 'good' cheater though... a team of engines will beat a single engine... we will crush him, join and check out the thread if you wanna get an idea of what we're doing.

GM Nigel Davis is a member of chess.com, unless he is cheater_1 (god I hope not) he can help out our side.

Think about this. From day one you all despised me. From day one you all crucified me for consulting a chess program to win at chess. I turned to cheating to beat the loudmouths. I became a cheat because I was tired of losing to the arrogant jackasses of internet chess. I wanted to put them in their place. Look at yourselves in the mirror, people. Take a good look. 95% OF YOU WILL CONSULT A PROGRAM at least once during our little match. And it will be for the SAME reason that I did. You all want to see me lose. You want to see me checkmated and cry like a baby. You all want to make me EAT the pieces when I resign (I WILL resign if it is a lost cause--I'm taking this VERY VERY seriously). You all, in fact, will become ME, during this match.
And it wouldnt surprise me in the least if it is completely a SCAM with just ERIK making the moves on his super computer. I seriously hope it is a few hundred people voting on moves and not a few hundred progs vs mine. Oh, I know there will be progs used, but the law of averages will come into play. There will be FAR more mediocre moves suggested than GM level moves. I WILL WIN. That much we know. But it will sure be a fun experiment.
I can HEAR the people turning into cheaters right now. I can sense the people dusting off Chessmaster 4000. Always remember that you will have to look at your faces every morning for DECADES to come and know that you turned to the dark side. You became what you despised most in life just to win. haha, not me, my chessmaster 8000 is broken, refusing to think more than 2 moves ahead, ever since i set it to fischer time. Let me know if you know how to fix it!
cheater_1 can you actually beat any of your chess programs on the hardest difficulty setting? I always get soundly beat by chessmaster 10 at its highest setting and have only managed to draw with gnuchess 5.07 once, even though I had a won position. Have you taking part in advanced chess tournaments? Have you ever played a game on chess.com?
