This happened because my friend is new to chess:
White blundered a queen and was chased all over the board -- so met an appropriate end. Thanks for sharing.

Now I'm wondering what's the minimum amount of moves to get a mate by castling. I have the hunch that it can be achieved in 8 moves (because that's how many moves it takes for the white king to reach the 8th rank), but I'm having difficulties finding the moves.

i did it just now and it was sooooo cool. plus it was not in a endgame like other mates it was in mid game

That's cool
I once got a castling checkmate, but I was up 3 points. It was a queenside castle checkmate in the middlegame, his king was out in the open because i had pushed it there
