Hi everyone,

I have just finished my current chess book, Improve your chess by William Hartston.

I was wondering what chess book I should go through next I have been playing for about 7 months and am rated just over 1500.

I do have the patience to go through a "heavy" book if its content is good.

I was thinking perhaps My System by Aron Nimzowitch would be best, would appreciate any advice thanks,

Silman's Endgame Course. It'll bore you stiff, and improve your chess many times over.

Also recommend Silman's Endgame course. It's not a read once and put on the shelf, it's based on increasing levels of complexity as you go from beginner (rated 1000 approx) with queen + king vs lone king, up to master level play (rated 2000+) I'm prob bout a 1200-1400 (never been rated, I'm 1500ish here) player myself & I've found it quite useful.

I took a look at your recent online game to make a good recommendation. Based on what I'm seeing, get started with Chernev's Logical Chess as well as his "Most Instructive games" book.

The benefits of going over annotated master games (when they are written well) is that you get a fistful of chess lessons in each game and in time (after playing over + understanding 100s of them) , your brain will sponge ideas and patterns from them.
