Chess.com are just as unscrupulous as the Engine Users

Chess.com removed the default "on" for profiles. This effectively removed the communities ability to self police the site. This is a problem because Chess.com are not pursuing cheats. They can't. Their algo can indicate cheaters but they can't and don't do anything substantial. Why ? Because ultimately Chess.com exists to create revenue for its investors/owners.

If the reputation of this site as being full of engine using retards gets any worse, it will remove revenue.

The most dramatic way to combat this reputation is to remove the usefulness of profiles. If you can be bothered reporting a cheater, Chess.com then just bang off a standard message saying they "may" have taken action. This will result in users being less inclined to report.

I suggest we start a forum list of those we suspect of cheating. Put them up here. Inform them they are on the list and allow a rebuttal.

I don't understand the point about "on" accounts. Are you talking about the "Notes" feature being set to closed by default?

But they are pursuing cheats. They closed down more than 8,000 accounts for fair play violations last month after checking millions of games. They closed more than 33,000 accounts for abuse.

That's a lot of actual actions taken.

Look for the monthly reports. https://www.chess.com/news/view/chess-com-month-in-review-january-2020

At any rate, they don't allow lists of cheaters or cheating discussions in the general forum. Join the Cheating Forum club to discuss.
