As an alternative (I have a Mac to ) I have installed successfully SCID vs Mac.
Chess database for Mac

I thought from your reply that the 4.22 with Wish 8.6.4 does not run on Big Sur, though you do not make this explicitly clear. But others report this framework *does* work on Big Sur, though with several other issues, so have left Wish 8.6.10 in the default ScidvsMac 4.22.
People wishing to run engines will want to replace the 8.6.10 framework with the 8.6.4 one on the download page for ~better~ responsiveness, despite the visual anomolies.
But either way, Wish is broken on Catalina and later, and our 64 bit app is fairly unsatisfactory.
The problem is modern Apple doesn't care two bits for anything except the iPhone dollar, and has systematically made macOS a bugfest and totally killed-off all but the most ardent of hobby programmers.
