I'm asking about Portland.

Sorry CP, yes it is Oregon. one of our former (if he is not still) Oregon Champions was Steven Breckenridge and now he is in college @ Texas Tech I think. Another one was Nick Raptis. Both are quite good and Raptis used to play at the same coffee shop i play at all the time.

Used to live near there.

Yo, you have to "edit" your own comment to get the video to show up.  Then click submit changes and press f5.

Thanks. Just remembered that right before you posted.

Lisa is so freaking hot. Best part of the show.

Did you ever get a chance to go to Coffee Time or Pioneer Courthouse Sqaure?

Lady Gaga is my girl!  I love that blonde emaciated Italian-Jewish stripper look.  And no, I'm not being faceitious!

No. What's the significance of em?

Why is rage a bad think. A little anger can make you powerful. Chess is like war and must be absolute. If you are nice to enemy than they will exploit you.

TheGrobe

Anger and rage are two different things. Rage clouds your judgement always, anger does not necessarily have to.

Well I use both, this guy sent his horse into my base and took a pawn so I hunted it down in a trap. Anger/Rage can be good motivation.

netzach

What's needed is slow, controlled-burn anger. This helps you to focus.

This is why I always carry a grenade launcher to tournaments.

netzach

I always carry ''party-poppers''with me just in case my opponent says check too loudly.

Lady Gaga told to “lay off the pasta and pizza” by her record label

zborg

She's starting to look like the old Britney Spears.  That's scary.

She'll slim down for her next video.

Not really Astrid69, I actually do have a life away from here.

Skol

A common claim by people who shortly after proceed to act like they didn't :)

There was a thread some time ago about whether chess attracts angry, high-strung, anti-social types.

I say that's rubbish.  Have you ever been to a chess club?  I'm easily the most violent and high-strung guy there, and I'm relatively chill.

Hope that helps.

I have been to many chess clubs, most recently to my club in a library in Brooklyn. Its in a nice neighborhood and mostly nice people go there but arguments and even fights do break out. This, I remind you, is in a library where we are guests, but chess is a way of sublimating agression. Sometimes it doesn't get sublimated.

johnmusacha

That's awesome!

The only thing that's kept me from getting in a few physical fights at chess clubs is the threat of jail.  I think the quality of behaviour at chess clubs would take a giant step forward if some jerks got a good roundhouse to the eye socket when they step way out of line.

One man consistently pissed me off over a period of months with his blatant disrespect of opponents and the club in general.  I'm not a savage, so I decided to get him in a civilized way.  Making a fake of his USCF membership card was pretty easy.  Since I was traveling quite a bit at the time, finding an out of state tournament where no one knew me wasn't a challenge either.  Losing six games straight to ridiculously weak players, making it seem believable and trying to not laugh was hard.
