Chess for angry high-strung people?

The only thing that's kept me from getting in a few physical fights at chess clubs is the threat of jail.  I think the quality of behaviour at chess clubs would take a giant step forward if some jerks got a good roundhouse to the eye socket when they step way out of line.

One man consistently pissed me off over a period of months with his blatant disrespect of opponents and the club in general.  I'm not a savage, so I decided to get him in a civilized way.  Making a fake of his USCF membership card was pretty easy.  Since I was traveling quite a bit at the time, finding an out of state tournament where no one knew me wasn't a challenge either.  Losing six games straight to ridiculously weak players, making it seem believable and trying to not laugh was hard.

Why don't people like that get tossed from said club?

The Astronaut man said "The only thing that's kept me from getting in a few physical fights at chess clubs is the threat of jail."

I wouldn't really worry about it.  Hardly anyone ever gets arrested or prosecuted for those sorts of simple batteries between adult males.  Plus if anyone were to be "pressing charges" against you for a fight then the other members of the club would most likely ostracize him as a snitch and a pu$$y..

So, I'd say weigh your options and take your shot.  That's my chess advice for the day.

Or just run him down with your Tan Caddy convertible, when no one is looking.

I hate to tell you this but you actually helped him. You got his USCF rating reduced so the next time he enters a tournament he will get matched up against weaker players and as a result he will pick up a few easy points and possibly win the tournament.

True. If he's good enough to have a high rating, he should have any problem raising it back up again, so no damage done.
