Should I add this painting?

Damen beim Triktrakspiel

8th century

ClavierCavalier

Why not?  Are you questioning it because it's an asian variant of chess?

Tantale

I think I will not add it because it is rather near backgammon.

ClavierCavalier

It does look like it.  It could even be an obscure game that is no longer played.

Where is the chess in that picture?

AndyClifton

That was taken just before another huge wind blew them away.

ClavierCavalier

Well, what's the chess reference in this picture?

j-pax

it could be japanese chess... this does not have black and white board and pieces... it has only 1 knight bishop and rook .. but added gold and silver general and a lance...

and  you can setup the pieces how you like... i think?!?

edit: i googled it... i am wrong about the pieces etc. but it's my guess

I have added a slideshow at http://www.jmrw.com/Chess/Tableau_echecs/index.htm#bas

It works under firefox. Under IE there are still some corrections to do.

Later I will play the paintings in the chronological order.

What do you think of it? What can I improve?

Thanks

Jean-Marc,

Fantastic collection. Smile

Unbelieveable how many masterpieces you brought together !

Thanks for sharing !

I think some pictures occur twice but never mind - I enjoyed this very much.

Cheers, Winnie

Like the slideshow.

If was possible to slow the frame-changes down a little would be good.
