Several decades ago in Europe there were a few places where chess was taught in school, but I haven't heard about the modern status. I believe chess is very valuable for conducting oneself properly and logically in real life, and Kasparov wrote a book on this relationship, so I believe that if chess does become a required topic then this relationship must be stressed, otherwise students will think it's just another game with no relationship to the real world, which unfortunately is the general public's impression of it now.

Does anybody think schools should start offering chess as a class to be taught in school rather than having to take private lessons or join a club? Are their any schools that do teach chess?
