Now don't tell me to stop playing but its the truth. When you reach a rating like 1800 then you thought you have acquired that skill and you are on that level, you realize that it's a bluff, because eventually your rating falls down. There's a psychological effect that affects you negatively. This is how this website is designed. And its addictive but achieves you nothing except the dopamine that you get when you win. This is only useful for titled players who are able to get money. Worst hobby of all time. Yes I post this because I'm butt hurt losing games. I've reached 1852 but now down to 1700-something, Just when you thought you're on a higher level, you're not. Don't attack me Ad hominem, rebut logically.
Cheer up fella! Rating points come and go, but you've already proven that you're a good player. Don't forget that 1700+ rating on chess.com is already on the 97th percentile. Think about it, from all the people who like to play chess online, only 3% are higher rated than you. Of course there are different chess sites, but I think that's a fair assumption. If I were able to get as high rating as you, I would be ecstatic. It's all about perspective, right. :-)
Now when you think about the fact that the people at your level have probably dedicated more than just a while of their lives to this game, it's understandable how winning games and gaining more rating points can get increasingly difficult. So just continue playing, learning and try to not think about rating too much. Remember the perspective. There are always people who are stronger than you (unless you are Magnus Carlsen that is), but there are a lot of people who wouldn't get to your level even with years of immense training.
Then why are you on a chess site?
--- Well the OP wanted logic and so here we come to a very logical question ( why are you at this site ? ). Have you asked yourself this question and also have you asked yourself why you play Chess at all ( never mind why anyone else plays the game ).
