Why not try variants at chess.com/variants?
Chess is boring for me... What to do?

Why not try variants at chess.com/variants?
I do... I do. (I can't talk)
Did you read the full post?

Personally, I find chess fun because I want to know some specific openings. I find the Sicilian fun to leard due to the variations. I also watch lessons about analysis to improve myself (and it's fun to watch). Although, idk if either of those things are for bullets.

I'm thinking of studying 1.d4 openings, everytime my opponent plays it I want to abort the game. (I try to not because of the Sportmanship rules.)
Maybe learning a new opening will make chess fun.

Or perhaps boredom isn't the problem. You said that you feel like it's a waste of time. Maybe try focusing on a goal for your ratings. You could probably attempt to be titled player

I can't talk, don't mind me.
"But since Bughouse and other variants aren't as much popular and appreciated as regular chess, it feels like a time waste. I still do what I enjoy, though."
Read the parts with Italic.
There are many books that have stories on the lighter side of chess. If you learn about these, you may find playing chess more entertaining, regardless of the time control.

When I was 11, I got a guitar for my birthday and forgot about chess for many years. As a bonus, girls think guitar players are cool if you can play fairly well, while they think chess players are nerds, unless they also play chess, and sometimes even then.

I don't really play chess, I rarely play it. I play variants more and pretty sure that counts as a break from chess.
If I can find a good movie about chess, I'm defintely gonna watch it. Probably the 'Queen's Gambit' lol.

yep, chicks dig guitar.

play longer games and don't play as often, I often tilt when I play for hours
Longer time controls make me bored, I feel asleep. zzz

I just played a few blitz games today. Lost most of them by timeout, and drew one.
I'm a fast player normally, but I can't be that fast in regular chess. When I tried to, I hung a Bishop at move 5 and resigned.
Now I want to make it clear that the title isn't meant to make fun of chess, or neither trying to say it's boring.
I just find it not fun enough, but I want to play it.
I even get distracted and play openings I don't want to, hang pieces and play bad.
I want to make chess more fun and improve at it. Which I think I could if I wanted to, but it just makes me bored and finish a game instantly when I blunder, or even a mistake. Probably because I'm not that good, and I want to improve but I get bored... endless cycle. I would like to join OTB events but I want to improve first and slow chess would be too boring for me.
Now you might wonder why am I at a chess site when it's boring for me. Well, I mostly play Bughouse, Atomic and some bullet here and I like Bughouse and Atomic more than regular chess.
But since Bughouse and other variants aren't as much popular and appreciated as regular chess, it feels like a time waste. I still do what I enjoy, though.
I'm thinking of 2 | 0 but pairings take forever.
So, time to ask:
Any tips to make chess more fun, or any alternatives?
Play checkers.
Most average people think they are actually (naturally) good at chess when we know most people are not. I'm not talking about people that actually belong to clubs and play regularly and in tournaments, I'm talking about a friend or a friend/relative of a friend that learned how the pieces move as a kid but never played anyone with decent skills. When they play someone that is halfway decent and lose, then they get upset because they are "good" at chess and should not lose a game unless it's a GM that beats them. Most people just suck at chess, which makes it boring for them.

Great advice, I'll definitely looking into it! (!)
What if I suck at checkers?
Try focusing on the phycology part of chess. Also, do you use focus mode? Whether you do or not, try changing the settings mid-game while it's not your turn
"try changing the settings mid-game while it's not your turn"
> Flip Board? I sometimes do, sometimes don't but will do it more.
"Also, do you use focus mode?"
> No.
Thanks for the 'serious' answers. I just played 2 blitz games. Won them. And it was fun. Maybe I had a bad chess day, and now recovering. I get sastified everytime I chomp on a piece, lol.
Thanks again for the answers. But since I can't talk in a conversation very good, I will cut it short. Lol.
