I don't like when people talk like that either. It seems to me like it would take way less effort to just write properly. I'm also not fond of dat, instead of that. My son and his friends text each other like that, like they are trying to sound like gangsters from the hood or something.

I like chess because I'll never run out of things to learn and improve. Life long hobby

i don't understand why teenagers are inspired by gangsters. whats their thought process 'i really want to be a gangster so i can go to prison for assault/ battery and attempted murder plus multiple counts of possession of drugs.' ridiculous how some people act these days. i was watching police interceptors on channel 5 and almost all of the suspects were teenagers - young adults.

Yeah it's weird how acting that way somehow became popular culture amongst teens. My little girl has a shirt that says "kindness is the new cool", I bet you my son wouldn't wear a shirt that said that for a thousand bucks.

Reasons

1) Cost effectiveness (startup, maintenance, electrical power/battery, organizing tournaments, etc).

2) It'll keep the kids and grandparents occupied for hours on end (parents would understand this).

KID is d4, Nf6 c4, g6, Nc3, Bg7. just d4 nf6, c4, g6, doesn't always go into the KID for example the grunfeld which is d4, Nf6, c4 ,g6, Nc3, d5.

i apologise for being really nit-picky.

To quote Yigor, who has access to the real serious opening books: "In the Encyclopedia of Chess Openings KID has ECO codes E60-E99. The basic KID (E60) is defined by 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 g6." Your definition actually agrees with my little Bible (Burgess' "Mammoth Book of Chess") but Yigor convinced me that was wrong. Nw you have me doubting again. Do you have a *really* serious source, of the calibre of ECO, to bakc up your statement. If so, I dare you to have it out with Yigor in the appropriate thread:

https://www.chess.com/forum/view/chess-openings/king-s-indian-defence-black-kingside-attack

Wikipedia agrees with ECO: "

The King's Indian Defence is a common chess opening. It arises after the moves:

1. d4 Nf6
2. c4 g6

Black intends to follow up with 3...Bg7 and 4...d6. The Grünfeld Defence arises when Black plays 3...d5 instead, and is considered a separate opening."

MrFahrenKnight

it's only your best hobby? if it's your best hobby? the answer is in the question.

The reason chess is my favorite hobby is because it has really fun variants (small boards, big boards, and all types of chess pieces). Come visit us at the variants forum, or join us in this team competition.happy.png
