Is it just me, or does chess kinda suck. I mean, I think that it is all luck and whoever goes first wins. The person who wins is by no means the smartest, and anyone with an IQ above 5 can memorize the moves required to win. Honestly, if you waste your time playing chess to feel smart, you are as dumb as a rock. Go play a real sport, or at least a game that requires more than one brain cell.

The only way anyone will ever win a game of chess is if their opponent makes a really bad mistake (or several less bad mistakes). There has never been a brilliancy won where the other player didn't blunder.

It is possible you and your opponent are merely guessing at moves, in which case luck would determine the outcome. However, competition in chess entails logical calculation that in mathematical terms is called a maximum/minimum problem.

You're wrong, dude. I have viewed and/or studied hundreds of grandmaster games and I cannot memorize them and pass 1500 in slow chess. And my IQ is the size of an average shoe.
A few hundreds is very negligible amount for noticable improvements. Study about a few thousand games and see whether it make a difference.

you do not win if you move first, and i can prove so. one time, in a tournament, i lost as white.
One time in a tournament me and this other clown had a draw. I can't remember who was white and who was black.
