Chess Notation Mnemonic Device

Something like this probably exist somewhere and it's probably dumb I don't know, but I made a memory device one could use to remember which pawns are on which files.

To preface, I realized I remembered the D file as the Queen File and the E file as the King file because it became naturally ingrained in my brain when learning openings. (like how d4 openings are when you move up the pawn in front of the queen) So I tried to use a similar idea of relating the files to the pieces, but more acronymic.

So here it is:

King pawns - E

Queen pawns - D

Bishop pawns - Caring Fellas (I used caring because bishops could be nice idk, but u can use whatever c adjective is fitting for you)

Knight pawns - Big Glutes (Horses have them big butts)

Rook Pawns - Always Hard (Castles need to be sturdy to be effective castles lol)

I hope this helped, and if not I hope it was at least a fun read. Maybe try making your own words with the file letters!

This is a good idea! I liked it!

ManuRebollo

I agree, great idea

Yet: does anybody know of an app that or online chess game that allows you to type notations for moves instead of picking and droping?

BunniesAndRockClimbing

I haven't heard of one, probably because it's so much easier to drag and drop or click squares. Plus typos could be really annoying. It's an interesting idea though, there's probably something like that somewhere. I wouldn't be the person to ask.

D = dame
I mean I am even used to write D for moves with queen so...

BunniesAndRockClimbing

E = Elegant (Kings are elegant ig)

D = Dress (Because queens wear dresses)

F+C = Funny Caps (Because bishops wear big hats)

G+B = Galloping Badly (Because horses gallop, but because knights, as in the chess piece, have no legs, it's hard for them to gallop)

A+H = Arrows and Horses (because people used arrows and horses to lay siege to castles)
