There's no way that any player will ever play a single move in chess without a name on it. Whatever move you play has already been classified as this or that variation.
So a beginner who learns how the pieces moves and play his first game of chess, will already be following an established chess book line. 
Do you know of chess masters who did/do not rely on chess book lines when they play, yet are very strong players?
