Why do we get a chess point when we post something in the forums?
Chess Points
I don't think it says anywhere that they're 'chess points', just 'points' for contributing to the site.
It's is a member point, they do not count for ANYTHING so there is no reason to make posts just to get points.
Member Points: Chess.com keeps track of all of your contributions to the site such as comments, blog posts, forum participation, articles, etc. Each contribution counts for points. This helps members know how involved each other are in Chess.com!
Darn, my points have been for nothing. I hoped for something out of them! Well i guess i get one more useless point anyway. :p
Well, I think that the notion of chess points is a good idea. It can help identify someone who is truly passionate about chess from someone who thinks of chess as a hobby or pasttime.
Hi guys,
I would like to know where and how we get points. I now understand that we get on point for a forum post. But what other ways do we get points. I think points are valuable. I look at a guys points to know how seriously to take him. This is a good topic, thanks for posting it.

Looking at points as a way to take people seriously? You must be kidding. Many people post nonsense to get points whether it be an answer or an original post. I look at the topic and what the person says before deciding to take it seriously. Also if the question (answer) has chess analysis in it I look at the person's rating. That may make me snobby but so be it--rating do influence how I look at the chess answers.
