Screw ratings and just play....
Chess rating system
Many of the Chess.com players are overrated. They clearly don't study the educationale material on the site. In the opening, they break every rule in the book: moving pieces many times, not developing all of their pieces, using just pawns, etc. I call it slash and burn chess. They just try to eliminate material with no combination or planning. It's kind of depressing to play against them They've got all of this great material to learn, and they don't look at itl. And they're rated above 1200, without developing! I'm terrible, but at least I try to kearn.
Most people are not interested in learning and just want to have some fun. And despite the fact that that they're screwing around they still beat you most of the time despite all the great things you learn xD

IMHO both points of view just written are compatible.
At blitz it is difficult to find the right answers to these strange moves, specially when their "refutation" hasn't to be done immediately. Of course you might fall in zeitnot if you take too much time to find "the truth" you might have learnt.
OTH you have much better chances to find it in a slow game, that was probably what kakamou meant by "overrated".

Hi, I started a few days ago, and I met a player today who aborted on me, but... I did notice his rating system started at 1800, how is that?
Mine started at 1200 I think.
The mobile app lets you choose your skill level; beginner, intermediate, or expert (or something like that). If you choose the highest skill level, you start with an 1800.
Is tactics trainer rating skewed upward? For some reason I usually have about 1500 rating on live chess and the max I ever had was about 1800 at online chess (on another account), but my tactics trainer is a lot higher; I have an average of 2000, which I don't think I'm worth. Anyone else has the same problem?
