The good news is that with your current low tactics rating, almost any plan will give some improvement. The bad news is we don't know your weaknesses or how you learn best. Of course a little thing like that never stopped me from giving advice before!
It makes a whole lot of sense to me to do some studying before you test yourself. As a diamond member you have unlimited access to the Chess Mentor and there are lots of good tactics courses. GM Wolff has a dozen or two courses covering motifs like forks, pins, and skewers of course, but more subtle stuff like interference as well. Don't be afraid to review anything that's giving you trouble. Oh and go back and redo a course after a few weeks to find out how much you retained. Lot of work so you really need to enjoy learning but it sounds like you have the right attitude. Good luck!
I would like to know how some of you guys set up a training plan for chess. What do you study first when you are learning tactics? Do you do one hour of tactics daily? if so do you guys do any tactics on tactics trainer or do you focus on specific tactics by name or idea? Because I'm trying to set up a training schedule for myself and have no idea how to go about it. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
