On chess.com how come there aren't any trophies givin to people who place in the top ten in a tournament. I know some people have probably worked there butt off just to hit the top ten mark out of like 100 participants heck with a tournament that big the top 20 deserve consideration but why is none givin for either.

P.S. the top 5 in a tournament of 30 or so people is another considereable spot to enter.

You could make it top 10% , or top 5% etc.

Because players can give trophies to each other without limit, maybe instead of trophies there could be a "tournament leader" stat or something like "stars" that are earned in number equivalent to tournament achievements e.g. placing in the top 10 earns __ amount while placing at number 1 earns more.

Or is there a stat for "won tournaments"  I think I saw one once but it might not have been for this site.

Even that sound good but people who cap the top ten and get nothing like now is just embarrassing and insulting. Please could a staff member help us cause this is something that sorta gets under my skin.

@TadDude: Not buying the "kids today are pansies" response -- especially given the many problems with Twenge's book (The Me Generation):

No.  Time is not a respected source.

What does his sub 1200 rating have to do with what he is saying?

I cancelled my long running subscription in the 1990s and have seen no reason since to begin it anew.

Yeah, there's tournament points, so if you get 4th place or something in a big tourney, you won't get a trophy, but your stats will reflect it.

Says you and your sub-1200 rating!

This comment says more about your own judgment than his....

What's wrong with TIME? Isn't that respected source? PEOPLE might be a little more questionable, however...

No credibility for anything resembling journalistic integrity after darkening O.J. Simpson's skin when they put his mugshot on their cover.

BTW folks, I figured Gambitking was kidding.

Even at it's best, Time's still a weekly magazine, not a scholarly journal.  What the review takes issue with is a research psychologist not acknowledging this distinction.
