Chess.com Snobbery
Aloha, Lily, don't take things so personal. Here in Hawaii we try to have what we call the "Aloha Spirit": Be kind and considerate, polite, friendly, and helpful whenever possible and. if somehow there is no "Aloha spirit" in the other person, just let it go. I dont believe it's worthwhile to let yourself become upset or hurt or troubled by such negative behavior on the part of some members of our chess community, deliberate or not. Put that wasted energy into your game and the study of chess and raise your rating from wherever it is, one point at a time, if necessary, toward a goal, and feel good about how you are improving in this wonderful game of chess.
Thanks for your concern, but I don't understand why people asume I'm "offended of Liverpool" I'm just making observations. I like to moan between games, (and at the risk of repeating myself... So Sue me!) Thanks for your kindness : ^ )
'silent opponents(rude people)' ??? So if somebody doesn't type anything in the chat they're rude? I usually come on live chess for 2 things: a few 1 minute games for fun, a blitz game to test out openings or a nice, serious, long game to see if I'm improving. The 1 minute games there is no time for chatting, during the blitz games I usually like to concentrate on the opening and the long games I treat as tournament games. Of course, if my opponent says hello or good luck I will usually make a brief reply. Not to mention that I tend to play with a large board-- and the chatbox is not even visible!! What am I supposed to do? Switch to default every 30 seconds to check if anything has been said?
see the other forum for this argument love...
it was a reference to quoting the quote etc.
I'm no the wiser, can you spell it out for me pls : ^ )
Not being sarky
Aloha, Lily! Congratulations on your rating of 1000! If you want to say "hello", then, by all means say it. And if someone doesn't respond, just say "hello" to the next player. Why waste good energy letting yourself get upset as to why or why not someone didn't respond? There are a lot of people out there and there are as many reasons why one responds and another doesn't, probably reasons that have nothing to do with you. Why not save that energy and spend it more profitably asking how and why one of your moves wasn't the best one, study chess: video lessons, tactics, strategy, and learning from the good Forum responses. Everyone can become a better chess player, if she or he plays his best move, whatever it be, all the time. Take care! And "hello", Lilly.
