After looking at some of your games, it seems you are telling the truth.
Firstly, don’t bring your rooks out early on, activate them later on, after getting out your knights and bishops (generally in that order)
Secondly, try to fight for control of the center of the board. Do this by pushing your central pawns, and if they are attacked, try defending them, preferably with your knights.
Also, do not push pawns in a manner that isolates them from one another, unless they are supported by other pawns or pieces they essentially amount to a target for your opponent.
I also recommend watching some chess youtubers.
My personal favorites being Gothamchess, Saint Louis Chess Club, Hanging Pawns, and Daniel Naroditsky.
These channels have plenty of info on the basics of opening, middle game, and endgame strategies.
Once you’ve got the basics down, try doing some chess puzzles to get basic tactical motifs memorized, either here, on lichess, or chesstempo.
Of course there are other options, but these are the ones I have the first hand experience with, thus the only sites I can recommend.
Beginners will also try to trick you with early Queen attacks, so I recommend learning how to defend against those.
Chess is a difficult game, don’t get discouraged, I and many other players got destroyed upon playing our first games, it is natural.
Additionally, look into the fried liver attack, both how to play and defend against it.
This will be invaluable knowledge as a beginner, because many people at low levels of play have a hard time defending against it, and it is most popular for lower rated players.
