Yea. I’m ticked. The iOS app is the best ever playing experience. But due to the present demands on the servers- we IOS users are the 1st to take the hit.
Would like to hear the issue is simply a bug fix.
But where is it?

I developed similar games on iOS before (OK, maybe not at this scale). Whatever the actual root cause is the app is likely still broken. The app just cannot "fire a and forget" moves in a turn-based game if the backend doesn't acknowledge the turn due to being overloaded. Clearly, the software cannot be designed like that. The app just needs to retry and give up (and gracefully close the game). If the problem is really capacity (I'd be surprised if that's the case) then there are actually two problems and not one.
Yep. Two problems.
The latest iOS update on12/22 tried to fix the known problem- but demands on the servers likely made the issue worse. On peak demand- the game clock stops repeatedly.
They can close the app and reopen- the game continues. So where is the “bug” ?
If not on the other end.
So... code within the app tells the clocks to stop under specific conditions - server capacity.
I’ll play games at low traffic times - with zero issue. Play games at high traffic times - and every game the clock stops multiple times. What is one to conclude ?

As mentioned by @DeepGreene, the update was submitted to Apple ...
Looks like the new version has been approved:

Clock really stucks from time to time. Dear developers and product owners of Chess.com app for iOS! Please focus your best effort on eradicating this annoying bug. It is indeed a major problem for lots of users (as it can be esily seen here). We would appreciate that! Otherwise, unfortunately, we will have to consider different apps and chess platforms.
Looks like the latest build did not fully fix the issue. Instead of the stuck clock as it was before, my clock just keeps ticking (despite making a move) in the same situation. The previous workaround (kill the app and start it again and making the same move again) still works. This is super annoying when it happens.
I still have the issue but now my clock is ticking after I make a move... I am paying for this game which right now is unplayable
Hello the the community! This message is to express my real frustration against chess.com as I keep loosing countless winning games because of the timer preventing me from playing while my signal show full strenght! I have removed and reinstalled the app, its getting even worst! I am going to leave this app, so frustrated I am!
Contradicting claims have been made - about how this issue has been “known” and later claimed to be 1st news. Check my messages.
