They have been banned for cheating using an engine.
They THINK they were using a engine...about 90% badges are removed in 2 weeks though

Nonsense.
Friendly advice : either educate yourself or stop defending cheaters.

One aspect of these cheaters really annoys me. I play and initiate a lot of 3 day tournaments. It's the time limit I prefer, but I play much quicker and don't ever recall using vacation time. I find that based on 'account closed', roughly 10 % of people are cheating. Well done BTW to chess.com for banning them.
The thing is this, because I move quickly I have lost games to these pieces of excrement and while they might get banned I've have '0's in my results, with accompanying rating dropping - which aren't reversed.
IF I PLAYED SLOWLY (AND ANNOYINGLY) I COULD PROBABLY EVADE LOSING TO MANY, AS THEIR ACCOUNTS GET CLOSED - BUT WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO RESORT TO THIS TACTIC - OR WHY SHOULD THIS STRATEGY BE AVAILABLE TO BENEFIT ESPECIALLY SLOW PLAYERS AGAINST THESE 10 % CHEATERS ?

If checking your moves before you play would be "annoying", that is probably more responsible for your losses than cheating.
Even if you are correct about the percentage of cheaters, everyone suffers the same penalty.

'Annoying' is subjective for sure and being human I do make mistakes. The thing is, everyone does not suffer the same. It's a not a level playing field as the cheaters are weeded out, but the tortoises evade them.
To reiterate: People can move fast or slow - that is their prerogative. The THRUST of what I'm saying is that over and above the propensity for faster players to make more mistakes, their/our results (ideally) should not suffer relative to the tortoises.

Example 1:
Individual is banned for cheating (username isn't revealed due to privacy purposes). All his games are lost due to timeout, matches are lost due to his points going to the other team, and chess.com staff thinks they have made the world a better place.
2 weeks later: Badge is removed. Player is allowed to rejoin. Chess.com f-ed things up again.
Think of it this way. Chess.com staff are sitting around with morning coffee, decide that everyone over the rating 1800 is possibly a cheater and should be watched. Okay, fine. But now one suggests that they should delete every member that is reported regardless of if they cheated of not! Do they care that matches are being lost due to them closing wrong accounts? ____ no! They just mindlessly close accounts whenever they fell like it just because they can. Way to go erik! Hope you remember what I've said in our previous conversations when c.c stops being the #1 chess site. @c.cstaff
And in case MGleason reads this, I am not talking about you at all. I know what you do and why as you and others have told me. But seriously, tell your fellow cheater detectors to pull their head out of their...yeah you know or pretty soon all titled players will switch to chess24.

@SonofThunder - the guy you're trying to protect is a recurring cheater, and his (second) ban is absolutely legitimate, as MGleason already told you.
If you need further clarifications, I invite you to open a thread in the Cheating Forum as these matters can't unfortunately be discussed in any detail in the general forums.

I wonder if they have decided to give up on closing threads for cheating discussions. I would have expected this one to have been closed already.

Chess.com takes cheating very seriously: see https://www.chess.com/article/view/chess-com-fair-play-and-cheat-detection, https://support.chess.com/customer/en/portal/articles/1444879-fair-play-on-chess-com-what-you-need-to-know and https://www.chess.com/blog/DanielRensch/cheating-on-chesscom.
Having said that, discussion of cheating is not permitted in the open forums, so I am locking this thread; please report any suspected cheating to the Support team via https://support.chess.com/customer/portal/emails/new and trust that it will be investigated, even if there is no immediate visible action.
