in this lesson are manny mistakes. if i take king and rook close together i give mat in 16 moves in any starting positions. in this lesson you need over 30 moves.

The lesson teaches the "box" technique of moving the king to the corner and giving mate.  It's a way to teach beginners how to checkmate with K+R, not about making the "best" move in the position

 If you have rook and king close together it is not only earlier checkmate but much easielier to do this. wink.png

My son is 8 and can checkmate with this technique very easy.

This is very important to be able to do quickly. It doesn't take huge practice but so many people run out of time and don't complete it.

Using premoves online this shouldn't require more than 10 seconds from any starting position. OTB it would be a little longer but not more than 20 seconds.

Also, never try to carry out engine precision moves in these situations. Make it into a simple pattern like this so you can do it without thinking!
