Conditional moves

Should none of these workarounds help you, maybe its best to play correspondence through the mail, with no time limits?
He won't like that either, since CC by snail mail also has both time limits and conditional moves, and has since long before he was around.

It would be nice if we could also do conditional comments.
"Gosh...I'm really sorry you fell for that..."
"Sorry...I just wanted to demonstrate my ESP to you."
Conditional comments in the forums would be very convienent too.

Your comment has triggered a conditional comment!
I knew someone would bring up conditional comments, so I set this one up to demonstrate that I saw it coming.
In your face!

Of course [insert name], something can always go wrong with condtionals.

Another advantage of conditional comments in the forums is that debates such as knights vs. bishops could rage on automatically, without human involvment.

OK, we just saw an example of how things can go wrong. Anticipating great wit from you folks, I set my conditional comment to reply with the little grinny guy. But as you can see from the two applications of the condition above, it ended up being a completely inappropriate response both times.

To me a much bigger problem with conditional moves is that you can't enter branches from a position in the tree, but have to enter a whole new line. Say I have a forced mate in 3, the first two moves are going to be the same no matter what, but on the last move, my oponent has a choice as to which square he is mated on, perhaps between two different squares.
Instead of entering 2 moves and then the two possible replies and then the last move for those two possible replies, I have to enter the first two full moves twice with and then do the branches.
In forced, but complex, positions, this makes the entire feature less useful as it's simply easier to just play things out than to enter in each branch of the tree as an entire line starting from the first move rather than from the first unique move.

Yeah, that can get tedious, and every time you start doing the next line from scratch is another opportunity to introduce an error. Either a branch or a copy function (e.g., for line 2 copy and paste in the first 3 moves from line 1 and then continue) would be nice.

Yes, and an extension of that line of thinking is to also have the interface recognize transpositions and re-merge the lines when one occurs.

It can be quite stressful for me as well because I have a future generation to look after as well as playing chess.
Damn, didn't realize you had responsibilities so vital to the future of humankind. You should let chess.com know future generations depend on you, I'm sure they'll be happy to make this little change on your behalf.

Would there be any point? If he's so easily stressed there's not much hope of his future generation ending up normal anyway.
Anybody else starting to think that maybe this guy's many "vacations" might not all be voluntary?

Fixed that for everyone.
How many people care about minimum time per move? Remembering that it costs the site money to make a change, it seems like a very silly option to me.
