Custom background "Use Photo" on iPad 12.9 inch version 3.7.8 -- does not work

Hi,

I have iPad Pro 12.9 inch and I was able to select custom background image ("Use Photo") back in the 1st half of 2017. At some point in 2017 something changed and this feature no longer works -- I still have "Theme" section, "Custom" setup, "Background" in the app but when I click on "Use Photo", nothing happens, as if the button is somehow disabled (no error message, it doesn't crash, just nothing happens).

The version of the app is 3.7.8 -- I communicated this issue to chess.com support staff back on 10/07/17.

I was wondering if anybody has the same problem -- someone I know has iPhone version of the app (also 3.7.8) and they're able to actually select custom background photo.

How is it possible to have the same version of the app for the same operating system (iOS) but yet the feature works on one device but does not work on the other? Are there any plans to fix it, are the developers aware of the bug?
