DEEP FRITZ 14

I can do it in my head looking at it upside down but why they wouldn't have a way to click a button and set it up they way you and I would rather do it...is really an oversite on their part. I will write them too.

Knight_Seer

Yes, thank you. I also have a problem with a brand new computer I have. I installed the software, put in the activation numbers, added all the database, etc; but, when I try to use "Training" it only opens to "Opening" and "End Training". When I try to use "Attack Training", "Defense Training", etc, it tells me "database no found."

I'm going nuts with this. Do you know what I'm doing wrong? I have completely removed the software, have re-installed it twice, but to no avail.

Thanks pal,

Joe

Just so you know, Attack Training is for beginners who just learned the rules.  When I click on it a window comes up and says "Click on all of the White and Black pieces that can be taken."  That's it.

Defense Training is the same thing.  "Click on all of the White and Black pieces that are not defended."

But at least I don't get an error.

Try loading a database first and see if that helps.

virus protection until it was installed. Then it worked fine but...I've had 7 or 8 new verisions installed since then and I've only had it since January but really haven't used it to much. I'm in a Centaur Chess Match where we both are using of our software programs to fight out a game (unrated so it's legal). http://www.chess.com/echess/game?id=82916350

I got way behind at first because, small world, I didn't have Fritz set up correct and some how didn't lose the game as fast. That is how I spent time learning the setup stuff....out of panic.

Hello

here are the stting for playing as blask vs fritz

1-press twice new game ,to bring black color in your side.

2-go insert menu-position setup-and press reset.

3-press white-black to change ((side to move )) in Black.then ok.

4-in insert menu press (( Enter Null move ))

I think that will work.I play as black in this way.

have fun friends

Did someone find out how to set up a position in black's point of view? The last comment dind'nt work out for me. I followed the steps, but when I ask the computer to analyze or play, it plays as if white attacks towards the top, e not to the bottom.

MrEdCollins

I just tried again.  (8 months later.)

I'm convinced it's not possible.

This is proof positive the programers who designed that setup screen don't use it themselves.  If they did they'd discover right away the need for that, and thus include a simple FLIP BOARD button within that setup screen.

Volt255

this is a crazy work around...

setup the position with reversed colors,

press "white <-> Black", press "King <-> Queen", press "OK", then flip the board (Ctrl + F)

MrEdCollins

Nope.  If I understand your steps, and I think I do, the coordinates are still wrong.

BryPin

can you pm me the FEN or PGN of the game you are trying to flip and I will try it on my Deep Fritz 14 and IF I can, I try to walk you through it.

MrEdCollins

Just use any static diagram that is shown from Black's point of view.  Use the diagram in post #20 on Page 1 of this thread, for example.  The goal is to enter that position into Fritz.

You want to enter it AS SHOWN with the Black pieces at the bottom of your board setup screen.

I know its somewhat counterintuitive, but you can do it like Volt255 already described it:

Open setup position board.

Enter position exactly as given in the diagram, BUT use WHITE pieces instead of BLACK pieces and vice versa.

Push the white<->black button and maybe flip king<->queen.

You got it wrong, the coordinates are right in that case.

Ok, not a nice solution, but it works.

I'm relatively new to using Fritz 14, but I think this is how it's done:

- Open Fritz 14
- Select Insert Tab
- On the right select Position Setup
- setup your pieces as you want (either manually, or by pasting in ASCII (text) or FEN
- select "side to move" as black
- Select OK
- Select Board Tab
- Flip Board to choose what side you want to look at

lol omg

MrEdCollins

My mistake.  Volt255's work-around is a valid work-around.  Thanks.

Too bad the original poster, Knight_Seer, won't see this.  (He hasn't logged in for 8 months.)

I don't use Fritz14, but if I ever do I will try to remember this work-around.

(mrsrp, yes, we know how to set up a position and flip the board.  Thanks.  But that wasn't the problem.  The probably was to quickly set up a position from Black's point of view.)

Ive recently bought Fritz 14 and after looking around this is how you can go through a game.

  • Go New Game
  • flip board if you want Black
  • Go to Engine in the menu
  • Turn off Engine top left corner

Now you can go through a game making any moves you need.

Hope this helps.

How do you make Fritz start playing as white in a new game so you can practice as white?

janhab

Hi Knight Sear

I stumpled over your question and my recipe is as follows.

  1. Flip the board (Ctrl+F)
  2. Go to the setup position menu (press S)
  3. Enter the black pieces from your source as white pieces and the white pieces as black (for example a black King on  g8 in your source must be entered  as a white king on b1 in the setup board - a white bishop on e2 in the source must be entered as a black bishop on d7 in the setup board - and so on)
  4. Then press the button "King <--> Queen"
  5. And then press the button "White <--> Black
  6. Tick the "black to move"-box
  7. At last press the OK button

This does the trick in Fritz 13 and I'll eat my hat Cool that it also does in Deep Fritz 14.

I really appreciate this conversation! Although it is years old, I ran into the same thing tonight as I tried to enter a position in my Fritz 12 software. No matter what I tried, I could not get it to correctly show the board from black's perspective, with the 8th rank on the bottom and 1st on the top. Seems like this should be easy.
