Yes, It is true. How i made it?
I have learned to play london system and black french defense very well.
Also I know couple of good gambits, like stauton and from. But to be honest, I don't know so much of theory.
Secret is that I have been playing insane amount of games in three years in chess.com, 25000 about.
I haven't been doing like puzzles so much, little bit. And haven't been practising end games too much. That is I know that there is lot to learn still.
But have been losing many painful games and learned from it.
It is weird, because I don't really analyse the games ever after the match. I just play, play and play.
I am proud what i achieved, I know I have done a good run.
(propably elo will go way down, now that i say some proud stuff, it is some kind of life lesson that everybody has to learn eventuallly)
My advice to you is that, just learn very well few openings. Like I did, One in black and One in white. And keep on playing and learning through you losses. I know many people won't have so much time that I do have, but then you have to maybe practise differently than I did.
Hope My chess journey inspires new players who want to develop.
And btw, I was 43 when I learned chess and started to play in chess.com
To be honest I knew some of the rules, but didn't know pins, en passant, skewers and forks really at all.
Everything is possible if you put you mind in to it, and do it with passion.
Peace and love
