Difference app analysis vs browser

Ha people, I could use some help on engine analysis, more specific on the difference between my iOS app zelfanalyse and the browser analysis. I have a free account at the moment. For example, same moves:

iOS zelfanalyse

1. d4 - 0.31

… d5 + 0.87

2. Bf4 - 0.28

Chess.com in safari browser on the iPhone

1. d4 + 0.06

… d5 + 0.25

2. Bf4 + 0.04

As you can probably tell from my question I don’t know anything about engines at all. What am I looking at? Why is there a difference? Is it about depth, or maybe complete different engines?

Any help would be appreciated.

It could definitely by the engine depth run by iOS vs Safari. They might have different capabilities for different interfaces, resulting in contrasting evaluations.

But it’s both chess.com, the chess.com app on my iPhone (iOS) vs chess.com in my safari browser.

I was just taking a guess with the different capabilities hypothesis. I don't know a ton about engines either.happy.png

Chess.com browser is updated more often than the app, so a possibility is that there was a browser update that wasn't updated for the app yet. But it seems like the differences are less than 0.5 from each other, so no need to be concerned. It's only once the differences get over 1 that you should be concerned of the accuracy happy.png

One of the things that puzzles me is that the app seems to give a negative after whites two moves. d4 followed by Bf4 is not that bad...

... and that adds to my confusion. The number says which side is in that position better right?

-0,31 means black is better. That is weird isn’t it? Right after d4?

I have also noticed discrpancy between the app analysis vs browser. One game just finished on the browser it said my opponent and I played with 80 percent accuracy, on app it was 60 something.

I've gotten lots of positions in which the differences are over 1. Does that mean I should be concerned because on 1 game, it said i made 1 mistake and 1 innaccuracy, and on the other tab, it said i made 0 mistakes and 0 innaccuries?

I was just about to post a question about this too. For a game I just finished, the app's analysis (Android) gave my accuracy as 36.3%, but when I looked at the game in the browser, it said 7.8%. Neither is good, but that's a big difference for such a short game.

Had another one today, a game which I won. On the PC, Chess.com analyzed my performance at 45.2% (compared to 71.3% for my opponent), but the app gave me a 77.8% rating, slightly higher than my opponent's 76.x%. That's a HUGE difference, more than thirty percent for the same game. (It's this game: https://www.chess.com/game/daily/349332141 by the way.)
