Remember that discovered check is when a piece moves out of the way of another piece that gives check? A discovered attack is like that, except it's just an attack on a normal piece (not the king) . For example:

You can use the piece moving to attack another piece as well.

This is a common trap when black is playing the nimzo-indian.

You mean Queen's Gambit.

The first example was kinda stupid, if I may say that. Sure it shows the idea, but it's still a pretty bad blunder.

The fork!

Well black can win the rook with Queen check... sure he loses the knight, but Queen vs. Bishop is pretty bad for white

right...that was just to demonstrate. White can win the knight with 1. Rh4+, but I wasn't getting into double attacks yet.

Example 2: If blacks response is Kh8 why not go for the queen for free.
1. Rg5+ Kh8
2. Be5+ Qg7 ( 2... Qf6 3. Bxf6# )
3. Bxg7+ Kg8
and then 4. Bxc6
With a King, Rook and two Bishops against a King I think even I could win that one.

I suppose you're right.
