no but I think it will help you have a good position out of the opening
Well, I started chess 10 months ago and joined this site 8 months and half ago. As i Deeply indulged in chess, I made it to 1600 rapid, 1400 blitz, 1800 bullet. As I increase my rating , people told me to learn openings. but i keep delayed it and all i Praticed was some puzzles and a book named 1001 chess blah blah (maybe puzzles) for beginners.
But as I reached over 1600 rapid, I often think If i DO need to learn openings.
I still dont know the moves of some popular openings like caro-kan italian, scilian and etc…
Do you Really think i need to learn openings to reach higher ratings?
