So, do games like Clash Royale, card games, etc. that involve strategy help you at chess? Cause people are always yelling at me to stop playing Clash Royale, and if I find out CR helps my chess, then I might have found the biggest discovery for me. Ever. I need help. Tell me. Please.null

I think some strategy games can definitely help develop chess skills.  E.g. my dad who only knows Chinese chess and with a few minutes instruction in European chess was able to play chess well enough to beat my son (rated 700 USCF at the time).  But then, dad's limited chess knowledge showed itself recently when he thought he had won when he stalemated my son : )  (Stalemate is a win in Chinese chess)

Studies show that games such as League of Legends help develop their concentration, memory, logical mind, self-esteem, and their ability to collaborate and interact with others. The same goes with chess, so, yes, strategy games like LOL will boost your chess.

The problem with computer games is that they can take up a lot of your time so if you want to improve your chess think about this. What will improve your chess more, playing league of legends or playing chess?

I'll take your advice. I'm just going to learn how to recognise mating patterns by playing a computer game. After three or four hours i should be ashamed of my self if i miss a mate in six.

League of legends isn't just a GAME. League of Legends is everything: art, science, and a sport. League of legends is my LIFE.

Read #8 again, those are the necessary skills for any chess player. Concentration, memory, logical mind, self-esteem, and their ability to collaborate and interact with others.

If someone's playing computer games while trying to learn chess it'll effect the amount of time they have to play chess.

Also all those skills you listed. You can get those skills by playing chess. I'll have to go soon. i need to revise for my maths exam by learning about chemical reactions.

By your logic, any gm would be a any-field strategical master, which is clearly not true.

I have Magnus Carlsen on Steam, we play Dota together.
