If I get to make Kasparov's first few moves for him I could beat him easily.

I'm afraid this would not be enough, unless you pick for him 1.g4 and 2.f3.

Exactly my point.  I doubt 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nf6 3. Qh5 would be sufficent.

pfren 1.g4 ...(if only 1. ...e6 or 1. ...e5) 2.f3 is a mate with 2. ...Qh5#, so if ur gona take pfren's tricks to play that on GK, It will be the most painful defeat u will ever have and no one would forget it:)

Have you ever played a rated game OTB? If so what is your rating?

ClavierCavalier

I think you missed the point.  I said that I could only win if I got to choose Kasparov's first few moves, and he said, obviously knowing what he's talking about, that I'd only win if those moves I choose for him are g4 and f3.  Unfortunately, IM pfren forgot about this:

Yeah, that's right.  Black doesn't need to play the moves for the fool's mate.

And that's stupid then...

No I could not beat Gary Kasparov. I wouldn't survive the opening. one single inaccuracy and he would win without any effort.

Something tells me I could defeat a highly trained professional from a very young age since decades ago slash child prodigy in his area of expertise!  Seriously, any answer other than no is unacceptable... unless you're a super GM, in which case you could win some games but probably lose a match... unless you're Kramnik, Aronian, or Carlsen.  So only three, maybe four people since Nakamura could probably beat Kaspy too I can think of can answer yes honestly.

The way I mangled the Van Geet in my first chess game over a decade and a half ago tells me I'm not a Kasparov.  I got pushed off the board by my patzer grandad in less than 25 moves and my Ng3 was just badly placed.  I don't remember the entire game but that's how it went down.  Kasparov in his first probably blasted his relative off the board with a queen's gambit accepted... and they probably tried holding the pawn too.

ClavierCavalier

No, he probably lost easily at first and had to study to bring out his hidden talents.

zborg

Certainly.  Arm-wrestling.  Sure bet.

But this thread should go back to sleep for another 13 months.

For everyones' good.

Spiritbro77

HELL no. Even now Kasparov is a top ten player. Probably top five if he got back into competative chess.

Black_Locust

Are you kidding?  While I'm ranked just over 1200?  Sure, I could beat Gary Kasparov ... dunk against Michael Jordan ... earn touchdowns against Payton Manning ... mop the golf green with Tiger Woods ... yeah.

Plus, you make really good fenceposts and burn hotter than just about any other wood I've ever burned.

Yeah, I beat him all the time. I beat him this morning actually.

We mean beat Garry Kasparov in chess!

It doesn't count, if you're a Moscow police officer!

MzJavert

Yeah, right.  Only if he fell asleep after his first move and we subsututed the Easy mode (vs Computer) for his moves.
