Do you believe in the chess fairy?

Certain young chess students believe the legend of the magical chess fairy that comes each night. If you place a pawn under your pillow as you sleep, the fairy comes that night, and places a queen in its place! (hopefully, but if the fairy is in a foul mood. drunk, or just feels like playing a practical joke, you might end up with a bishop...)

I stopped believing in the chess fairy when I was 8. Caught my dad trying to sneak a queen under my pillow. 

I do believe in the chess fairy - I once ended up with a King under my pillow, so I thought I had a mate, but maybe I didn't cos there was noone sleeping beside me.

I'll have a go at it tonight, let you know how it went in the morning. Love dem fairies!

Would a Star Wars chess set work? Does the fairy's inventory account for different types of boards?

No telling what a tipsy chess fairy might do. Some have even found a checker king or "gasp" a queen of diamonds.

The chess fairy is a happy drunk.  Merry queens to all and to all a good knight!

Yeah I once left a checker piece under my pillow. I woke up with a crown on my head

left a pair of 7's under my pillow and the next day I had a royal flush

     The tooth fairy and the chess fairy work in-tan-dem  I placed my dentures under my pillow and the next mourning they were GONE!  However, at my kitchen table was a beauiful Staunton set with ivory board   Unfortunately, now I can't eat  But its a beautiful set!
