Do you believe that Chess was brought to Earth by aliens?

Our cells are made of 64 pieces??? 64 pieces of what?
I wonder why people who have been beamed up only report having donated kidneys and being used as sex slaves. You'd think at least some of them would have been invited to sit down for a nice game of chess.
There IS a difference, but mostly it's just in the spelling. I think it's because of the displacement, but I'm quite sure that one might suffer the symptoms of having a kidney removed or otherwise having been molestered when facing simultaneous loss to 12 aliens who read all the good interstellar chess litt.. No earthling knows of the checker hybrid method for instance.
Said eathling is often quite baffled when the alien smiles and removes five pieces from the board and also transforms a pawn in just one move.

Oooh, yeah, I hate it when they do that.

I think chess was brought to Earth by aliens. They told me that. Also while I was there they told me that Magnus Carlsen is an Alien.

@OP: There is a slight distinction... the Alien's chessboards are circular, although having same 64 number of squares, and Chess pieces may time-travel.
I saw this once and couldn't remember where. Thanks for posting it.

Chess has too many idiosyncracies and its rules are not universal enough to be considered alien or godsent.

Ah, but...

Those idiosyncrasies were placed there deliberately by the divine being. In order test the faith of the humans. Simple.

I've had some bosses in my past that could play this well, because they were always going in circles. lol.
However, I just have to give this set a try.

She was more like a beauty queen from a move you've seen
I said don't mind, but what do you mean I am the one
Who'll play chess, on the floor, in the round

Then I guess I failed my creator:(

Heretic.
Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, the president of FIDE, allegedly believes so:
"I believe that chess comes either from God or from beings flying a UFO. I should know! They took me aboard their airship while I was on a business trip to Moscow, in 1997, to a distant star. It's perfectly normal - last year, I visited America and learned from official statistics that there are 4,000 annual reports of contact... Each year, archaeologists find evidence of chess in America, India, Japan or China, played under the same rules, from a time without planes or the internet. Look, the chessboard has 64 squares, and our cells are made of 64 pieces. All this shows that chess comes either from God or from UFOs.'"

Fischer was sane compared to that guy. You can read more about Kirsan Ilyumzhinov here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ilyumzhinov
LOL
Well, he certainly meets the minimal height requirement.
