I think the OP wanted to prove that the way to get a real rating which shows your true skill level is to play much higher rated opponents but to me it looks like a way to pump up the rating without taking too much risk.
If you lose, your rating doesn't decrease by a lot, but if you win it rockets. Therefore you might lose a lot of games and win only a few against higher rated ppl and you are up a hundred points which doesn't mean that you are better than most of the ppl in that 100 point rating range. So you get points fast which are not truly deserved.
Imo if you want to get a real rating you should play ppl whose rating is similar to your thus you have to beat more players to go up from lets say 1500 to 1600.
