sometimes i listen to music regardless of whether it is calm or tense or mellow as long as the position i am playing is not under critical condition. when im playing tournament games, i think is is not advantageous, but when it is unrated games for chesscom ,i enjoy music that can inspire and keep me awake and alert.

only while playing chess at home, never at the club, or in tournaments.

Funny, when I'm listening to music while playing chess, regarless of what kind of music or chessgame, the music just fades away as I focus on the game. Especially with life chess. When the game's done, suddenly there's music again ;) If it doesn't, I know I'll be having a hard time concentrating and better don't play, for I'm sure to make mistakes.

I thought I would like to hear music at tournaments but I was at a tournament and somebody rehearsed piano next door. it was the most annoying thing experienced at a tournament. each time I found some flow in the music to relax to it there was a break. how I managed to win the game I don't know.

I think my new favorite reason to listen to music while I play chess, is for therapy...it helps me to not think about wasting my time with those who think it isn't acceptable to play chess and listen music at the same time and to just help me focus on the game I love so much...
