Do you lose more points if you resign rather than run out of time?

I find one of the most frustrating things playing blitz games is when your opponent just stops playing. I don't understand why some players do this as soon as they start to lose.

Would they lose more points if they played on and lost or if they resigned? Or do you lose the same number of points however you lose the game?

A loss is a loss.  There is no difference in number of points gained or lost depending on the type of result (disconnected/resigned/checkmate/timeout).  The good news is that if people stall lost positions enough, their accounts can be restricted under chess.com's fair play policy.

Thank you - I guess that's the answer I was hoping for. It doesn't explain why people stall so often - it is so frustrating.
