I guess the "boss button" is just slamming the drawer, but that could mess up the position.Frown

I think it closed down three-and-a-half years ago. In December 2005.

It closed down because the owner passed away.

No one ever runs off with a hugh knight?

I have a glass chess set in my living room. There is my portable tournament set but mostly I play on the computer when away from the local chess club.

I must admit I feel a little spoiled now.  I have a room dedicated to chess in my house.  Technically it's the computer room so I pay bills online and do school stuff in here too, but hey it's main purpose is the furtherment of my chess studies.

Some guys have a man-cave I have a geek-cave.  Like man-caves it isn't really decorated or organized very well half of the time, but hey it's my own patch of earth that is dedicated to my insanity for this game.

Sorry couldn't figure out how to make the image a bit more, discreet, but it's late and I don't feel like futzing around with it.

Here's my playing area. I've got my computer set directly in front of my table for training, and my bookshelf just to the left of the table.

Go with the queen. It's worth the most you know.

I had a dream of a chess den when I moved house a while ago, but it never quite happened.  I have my chess board and pieces set up in the conservatory, although the bright sunlight has discoloured the board a little!

What are those chess pieces with the faces called?  Finally I have stumbled across a photo of them and someone who might help me track down another set.  They were my first set when I was very young but they have been long lost.  I would love find another set like them.

The long face sets were designed by Peter Ganine. There are lots of them on ebay.

Although I play chess outside in the garden quite a bit, I've always wanted to create a permanent location...you know, instead of a Shakespeare garden, a chess garden.  Well, I'm working on the project.

The most difficult part is finding a table that can withstand the weather, so I've been visiting local garden centers to see what's available.

I'll post some pictures when I've made progress.

I rented a two-story house from September, 1981 to May, 1982, wherein the second story was my chess room.  It had its own bathroom and water for making coffee--just about everything I could want.  I couldn't afford to stay on in that house, though, and have not had one with a chess room since.  The closest I have come is to have a corner of the living room or dining room for my chess books, which now consume over fifteen feet of shelf space.

At one time, Bobby Fischer wanted to live in a house shaped like a rook.

I know a house that looks like a rook on a remote beach in California.

I usually stay near there during the President's Day weekend in February.  So the next time I go, I'll take a photo.
