Do you think Simen Agdestein is pleased that Carlsen defeated Karjakin?

The tall one in the gray shirt is top Norwegian GM Agdestein, who incidentally also played football for the Norwegian national team.

He didn't beat Karjakin at classical chess, he tied him and a definitive result was not permitted to us by the powers that be.  Thus, Carlsen's title is not beyond reproach.  WEAK SAUCE GENTLEMEN.  And to head off the apologists, we already have titles for Blitz and Rapid world champion, why turn the classical championship into one of those events?  It makes no logical sense.  I only wish Bobby Fischer were alive to chastise all the weak governing officials, media figures and charlatans who perpetrated this fraud on the world!  In fact if I recall he refused to defend his title because he said "if tie play until there is a winner, and only if the governing body steps in to cut it short against the agreement, only then should the reigning champ hold onto the title."  Fischer was a man's man with tremendous integrity compared to the sad state of chess bodies, fans and media today!

Carlsen is definitely the best player in the planet right now, but I wasnt impressed by his match vs Sergey. adding blitz to a classical championship sounds absurd.

Fischer demanded a WC system where the champion (himself) would retain the title in a tie, which isn't fair at all.  He quit when he didn't get his way.  I don't think you can call him a "man's man" when he was the only WC to forfeit his title and refuse to play the challenger

To answer OP, I'm sure Agdestein was rooting for Carlsen.  Why wouldn't he?  Plus, Carlsen as WC raises the profile of Norwegian chess, which undoubtedly benefits Agdestein
