Does ADHD Affect Your Chess?

I don get how exercising correlates to having difficulty focusing because of ADHD. Are you saying itś the answer?

I'm still pretty new to chess, but I'm finding that I don't blunder any more in rapid games than daily games. It seems like they give me a chance to hyperfocus on the game in a way that allows me to feel the flow of the game and follow what's happening the entire time. When I play daily games, I lose the thread. I forget about potential threats I saw coming, forget what I was planning to do, forget why I did what I did, and have to analyze the entire board all over again for each move.
It would be really interesting to sit down with a physical chess board and play someone irl as I read people's energy well and would likely have far better intuition that way. I also tend to do better with games with a sensory component than with digital games just in general. Ahhhh well, maybe someday!
As for the brain fog, I've experienced a great deal of this as well, and it varies depending on how well I'm feeling! (I've had brain fog from histamine intolerance since before I started playing chess in December.) Chess has actually proven to be a wonderful tool for gauging how well I'm feeling overall because there's SUCH a wide range in how much I can see and how quickly I see it. It also helps me gauge which times of the day are best for me in terms of focus and mental acuity. I do best when my ADHD medication is at a comfortable level in its peak, of course, but I also see correlations with my how well I play and how well I've been eating, how much I slept, my mood, etc. It's really valuable for me to have this kind of feedback!
