Does anyone still use V2?

I remember when V3 had just come out, so many people didn't want V2 to go away. There were polls and petitions to keep V2 alive. Eventually, I got used to V3 and stopped seeing V2 link, polls and petitions. I'm pretty sure it's still there. Does anyone use V2?

Yes, sometimes

Yes. I still vastly prefer V2. When you go to V2 you see your content laid out in front of you; all your messages, comments, team activities, online games, etc. With V3, everything is compartmentalised, and in a box that has to be opened. V2 is much better for the social side of chess.com.

A few years ago, the Coke company decided that people were tired of the same old coke, so came out with "new coke". After a huge public outcry, they offered "classic coke". Still later, they just dropped "new coke". I'm hoping the same happens with "new chess.com".

It's frustrating when forum pages load forever in V2. However, you cant say V3 is 100% better than V2 either. Espwcially some thigs on forums. I got used to V3, but some things like "most recent forums" were much more accurqte in v2 than v3. I dont even underatand it now.

Last week YouTube videos were not working in V3, so I went back to V2, it looked really dated. I much prefer V3 now.

V2 fans, after a few weeks of using V3,  you won’t even remember what was different about V2.

It’s like any change, just takes a while to adapt.

That's cool you're about cosmetic appearance but maybe for some people there is a consideration called functionality. Try playing lightning games on an old computer in V3 and tell me the experience is the same as V2, imo. CTFU.

ChessOfPlayer

Using it right now.  That they were supposed to bin it on Sep 30th?

@sanjayrame, I enthusiastically embrace change when I think it's for the better.

@cottonsock, I can dream, can't I ?

ANOK1

yes im on v2 right now , however live chess , post cc game analysis and possibly other features of the site are now no longer available in v3 , and its now a question of either staying v2 but playing live on a different site or change to v3 to access a game in live , we all know v2 is on the way out , cc spent shed loads on v3 and they aint gonna want to waste that cash , so eventually its v3 here until v4 is ready

They keep saying that, but they also say that V2 will be ended when V3 is ready, which they define as "sufficiently clear of bug reports". I'm amazed at how long it's taken.

ArgoNavis

Yes, whenever I want to take a look at my old and foolish threads (which are easier to locate in V2) or to play the endless chess puzzle.

Reepicheep14

I like v3.

In v3 they don't even have you previous threads on your profile!

macer75

Yes.

ponz111

I do. But chess.com claims 98% do not use V2?!

Reepicheep14

v2 doesn't exist any more.
