People live their lives bound by what they accept as correct and true. That's how they define "reality".

Agreed. Most do not know the difference between epistemology and ontology. Just because we do not know that an object exists does not mean that it does not exist. Pluto existed before we discovered it. Fiveofswords wrote:

you guys are just confused by the difference between an object itself and an object as we understand or comprehend it. the word for both things is the same.

You should have expected this when asking a yes or no question. They always lead into a debate. And then you have what every good forum has: trolls. :O

foolish question, let us stick to the undeniable blatant facts obvious to

any sensible person that we play the game of chess with a chess set

It depends on how deep you really want to go. The most basic answer is yes, chess obviously does exist. But if you want to get extremely philosophical, you might say that if chess does not exist, then what does? Are all games nonexistent? Or even deeper, is life itself just a figment of our imagination?

IF THIS WORLD EXISTED, CHESS, WHICH IS IN THE SPACE OF OUR WORLD WOULD BY GEOMETRY EXIST TOO. BUT IF IT EXISTED THEN CLEARLY WE CANNOT SAY FOR SURE IT EXISTS AND SO WE CANT SAY IT EXISTS. TRUTH IS A THIRD

Is there a website for chess? Maybe something like chess.org, or chess.net?

Only the brave dare to say that something exists. In school we learn that saying that something doesn't exist, gives you higher grades.

I have finished school, so I can say that chess exists now - since all I can touch and perceive exists.

For centuries people have thought that this was an accurate representation of Plato....

They were wrong...that was a sublte joke by a Renaissance painter showing an angry homeless guy making an obscenity.

It seems that the real Plato looked like this....

That's right...the real Plato was an utter jerk.....

"I sink, therefore I am " .... wasn't that Archimedes ?
