Does the Queen's Gambit Accurately Represent the Chess World?

There are definitely flaws in the Queen's Gambit, but overall it's a very realistic show in my opinion. I thought the first tournament Beth Harmon played in, the Kentucky State Championship, was very realistic. It's clear to me that the show producers put a lot of thought into making the scenes as accurate as possible. What do you guys think? happy.png

I liked how they had the pairings listed by cutting pieces of paper out and re-arranging them each round. That was cool

It's not at all cringe. Well worth watching. Read some main stream reviews if you aren't sure. It was well received all round. Some of the best tv I've watched this year.

Chess world? Maybe. It would to tough to answer that for us outsiders. But it certainly dramatizes things. We rarely see eye contact during OTB matches between players. But i suppose that's artistic freedom. Other than that, it seems like a pretty accurate representation, especially in the games, thank god. I was so tired of watching fake positions which didn't make sense in other shows/movies.

It's cool! But could be improved. If only it had a silent but deadly attack (Like Morphy) that would be the best!

There were quite a lot of brilliances played by Beth, I heard.

I love it so far. I'm about to watch the very last episode today and I'm excited! It's realistic as far as I see it. I would enjoy a second season, but it is perfect as it is right now.

Fun Fact: For any Harry Potter fans out there, the actor who plays Harry Beltik in Queen's Gambit also played Dudley Dursley(Harry Potter's cousin) in the Harry Potter movies.

@bizarreguest there is swearing and adult themes of drugs, addiction and sex. I think it was rated 15. I was happy to watch it with my 11 year old daughter but it really depends. It's not hedonistic. I think these themes were handled appropriately.

define "bad" words @bizzareguest

Also, bad words doesn't make a person bad.
