Wow, that's rough. I've experienced, say, 100 point losing streaks, but never something like that. I have noticed that when you lose a few games, you lose your confidence, and that makes you play worse. Confidence is SO important, to me at least, in chess. It's a snowball effect, the more you lose, the worse you feel. You haven't noticed any sudden drops in mental capabilities in any other areas of your life, have you?

Shit happens. Get over it, move on and you become a stronger player.

Have it in your mind that you will recuperate and do better.

I tend to tilt if I lose a few games in a row, especially to stupid things.  Best to stop right there, because I'm not going to win for the rest of the session.  Sometimes I can just tell when I'm going to play well, and when I'm not.  Try to play mostly when you feel really good about it.

I don't quite understand what you mean when you say you started losing "for no apparent reason." I admit that it can often feel like that, but there simply must be a reason. A visit to your neurologist is unnecessary; losing streaks happen to everyone. I would humbly advise that you strive to play the best move in any given position. If you always demand nothing but the best from yourself, you should be able to end this skid.

I can beat you, I am a steady 1850 plus blitz player ( once 2100) now guess what? I am 1540.. However, since they did a software upgrade this happened. I hate the new chess .com look. It sux

right,  losing 300 odd points to a software upgrade.. haven't heard that one before,  very original.

anyway   ,  rating of 1000 equals to a chess player who knows the basic movement of the pieces. if your play blitz, then perhaps you cannot go any lower?   so it is more a positive thing, because you can only go up

We all have mysterious losing streaks. I used to be a steady 1670ish on www.chesstempo.com now i,m 1620. WHY???

Since I posted this I have gone back up to 1260.  Though its not my peak at 1330, I'm comfortable being around 1250 because I think it does indicate my skill more or less.

Looking back I think the drop had a lot to do with irritability which led to a lot of aggressive and hazardous moves.

You must consider the fact that you may never recover from this sudden slump in your menal faculties young son. Prepare for a potential life of trolley-boy labour in a large supermarket!
