It is geared towards higher rated players. While any player msy get some benefit from it, expert and above is probably the best fit (2000+ OTB)
Dvoretsky's Endgame menual < how much dificult?

Its geared toward master and above. I would suggest being at least a USCF A player before decding to tackle it.

My coach (GM, excellent coach) gave it to me at 1600. It was easy, but beware that Dvoretsky mentions a lot of unnesecary things in this manual.
@Diakonia @Martin_Stahl, I think you're confusing this with Dvoretsky's Analytical Manual.

Very possible :-)

As far as I know, it's the most accessible Dvoretsky book for non masters to pick up.
It's comparable to, but not nearly as dry as, a reference work. There is useful prose, mostly just at the beginning of a chapter. The difficulty is in the breadth of positions it covers. In my older edition there are 216 blue diagrams. The blue positions Dvoretsky considers required to know. This makes the book appropriate for 1600 IMO, because the analysis for these positions isn't too difficult. Sometimes a blue line is given and stops after a few moves with a few words, then continues in the black ink.
There are more than twice as many black diagrams which go into more detail, more theory, and cover more positions. If someone, improbably, mastered every position in the book, I think they would be IM level in any basic technical endgame. As you'll see in the book, even world champions error in these from time to time.
If you only cover the blue diagrams, which I think is useful for the first reading, IMO you will be among the best U2200 players for any basic technical endgame. Unfortunately for most of us mortals, one reading won't be enough to immediately start playing so many positions very well.

Had a look at it. It's rather dry for my taste. I'd rather go for a less complete and more readable book.

I'm basing that on what I've read others say of the book. I've actually read that most of Dvoretsky's books are meant for higher rated players. Again, I'm not saying lower rated players won't get anything from it.
Im about to buy this one but i heard dvoretsky's books are hard to understand... how much dificult is it??
